Currently In South America

It was November 13th and it was time to leave my home in London for another adventure. The plan was to head to Paris via the Eurostar, explore the Baltic States via car and then head back to my other home in New York for a week before I set off. It would take a month before I even set foot in South America but I wanted to see a bit of Europe and go back home before I set off.

I had nothing planned though! All I knew was that I flying into Bogota, Colombia and that I had my Brazil visa in my passport. No accommodation was booked, my spanish skills lacked, and I had to return flight booked. No worries though, I would sort it all out day by day.

Well its been exactly a month now and I have left Colombia and am now in Ecuador. So far things have been going g very smoothly and the adventures are endless. Its been a bit tough getting around with the limited Spanish but I have been learning and getting better day by day! The plan tomorrow is to do the Quilotoa Loop and then head to Baños and hopefully take another Spanish class or two. After that head off to Peru and try and work out lodging and where to go for Carnaval in Brazil!

In the mean time I plan on writing a bunch of articles about saving money, traveling for free, and long term backpacking. Not just about my travels in South America, but all my travels around the world! I’ve saved countless dollars and have made traveling so much easier and been able to stretch a dollar so far in a lot of cities. Its really amazing how much you can get if you just put a bit of effort into it. Check back soon for these savvy travel secrets!
